I installed Tribes and put in my profile. The game tells me its downloading my profile and it says cannot retrieve my details. Whats going on? Are all the account servers down?
There's only one (public) account server, and the system was designed to allow you to continue to play on the odd occasion it has to go offline for maintenance once or twice a year.
Your account keypair is a locally generated, locally stored credential; you normally only contact the account server on creating an account, when you'll be assigned a GUID, the public key will be signed (the account server is an authority guaranteeing to other parties that your key represents you), and a backup will be saved. When you try to log in without a local account stored, it's attempting to download that backup.
As long as you hold on to your public.store and private.store files in GameData\, you'll always be able to login regardless of its status.
