  We can't re-package the GSI installer due to legal stuff.

  I'm not saying modify the GSI installer itself, just have the installer *alongside* a readme file, which gives the location to get the current patch ;-)
  
  EDIT: Or even better, create an installer that encloses the GSI installer (if that's legal, since it's not being modified). The wrapper installer would install Tribes as per normal, then once that install is finished, would download the latest patch file (using a generic URL, i.e. - latest_patch.exe), and launch the installer for the patch file
  
  Thoughts on legality?

  If somebody is feeling crafty, they could whip together an installer that downloads the GSI (via bittorrent?) and then the latest TN patch.

  Eolk, how? Do you link to a generic URL, or do you update the tracker somehow, or what?

  You can re-upload the torrent with updated stuff. This, of course, does have it's disadvantages, and, an installer which downloads would be better.

  Anyone remember the name of that free installer software (open-source)? Name starts with an N i believe, can't remember what it's called...
  
  But yeah, it's a great alternative to InstallShield, it's good software, would do the job nicely I believe.

  NSIS? I've heard of that. I think what Turkey was suggesting up there was something that downloads the GSI installer and the latest patch, then installs them. Not sure if those installers do that.

  NSIS, that's it (aka nullsoft) :-)
  
  For the GSI installer, you would ideally wrap that specifically with NSIS. NSIS would just launch the GSI installer (which would be packaged internally, not downloaded, as NSIS wouldn't download as fast as torrent and/or a download accelerator program). Then once it's detected completion of the GSI installer, it would download the latest patcher automatically, and launch the patch process, wait for that to complete, and then you'd be finished :-)
  
  But yeah, all of those diff installer software packages are capable of downloading. That's how I was able to create my CSMC Remote Map Installer 5(?) years ago (for counter-strike maps).
