T:V killed me from playing ANY PC game. What a load of crap ...
That shouldn't keep you from playing the PC. The engine they coded for had a lot of potential to make a great game, however, they had no idea what they were doing, and screwed it all up.
I guess I am a vet....thousands of hours in front of the screen perfecting skills as a sniper in Syrinx and Mechina maods. Been playing since T1 as a noob. I was addicted. I recognize a lot of names on this thread and to you I say hello. Man there where some good times.

Don't you host a devastation server? I'd think you'd be at least decent at Devastation mod... :P
I'm a proud T2 vet and also started playing April 2001 (lol).
I have to say though, I was never a fan of any of the mods. I felt like it cheapened an already (nearly) perfect formula. Construction seemed like a nice creative addition though.
I just heard about this project from a friend and I'd just like to say that I'm very stoked that this is happening. Cheers!
I was TallgeeseIIII back in the day, I started in June of 2001, primarily played Meltdown2 and construction mod. if you played meltdown2 often on the rumble servers, you should know me quite well.
theres a blast from the past. Howdy methical. Wait is that the real methical?
Yeah it's me. How're yall?!
I jumped into a game earlier. Man, still as fun as ever.
Doing good man. Been gaming with my classic comp team ever since tribes died. How you been? if I recall right last time I saw you you were going off to join the military.
Started playing the multiplayer demo in '03, most likely. Got the full game when it was made available on fileplanet, spent most of my time playing Aerial Combat- a great mod which I believe a Mr. Necrobones is responsible for. Haven't played in about 4 years, but a resurgent player base is a very good thing. . .

I get out next week!
Two tours of Baghdad and whatnot. Kinda cool, kinda gay.
Had a kid, etc, etc. Very busy these days. Nice to get back to some computer gaming. Usually I'm all about that COD4.
Werewolf here. Been with Tribes 1 since it came out, and I wrote Spoonbot for it. I was in the Tribes 2 beta (and I actually got to help fix a sound-related crash, yay!), and was an on-and-off Tribes 2 player after that. I admit I never got into Tribes 2 as much as I did with the predecessor. I did some Tribes 2 scripting, like BotPilot. I even dabbled with weapon mods and made a little LaserTag Mod for T2.
Coming back to Tribes 2 now after these years, I'm shocked and appalled - about the current games, that is. This gem here feels fresh and solid. I'm going to enjoy playing this actively again. You can see me online under the alias "Toumal". ^_^

Congrats on the kid and Glad to hear you made it back home man. Good to see ya gaming again too perhaps we will run into each other in game. You can laugh at my pathetic attempts to shrike these days.
Hi. Old school Tribes 2 player here. Me and my brother started with the demo when it first came out, then bought the full game later that christmas. Back then we spent hours taking turns playing, and we had 56K so if it got disconnected when it was your turn you were screwed lol.
Crappy rules but that's what you gotta do when you've only got one computer. ;D
Times have changed now, I moved on from Tribes to Jedi Knight Dark Forces II, then to AvP2. They just recently shut down the AvP2 master server, and if you think a lot of tribes fans threw a fit when they lost their server...
Anyway I'm looking forward to playing this amazing game again. I used to be a pretty good shrike pilot back in the day. Maybe I'll see some of you guys back in there. I might even be able to recruit my brother again.
Hello everybody. Got the game in March of '01 if memory serves. Was eventually an admin on the Houston Vehicles server and member of The Renegade Horsemen, who had a short stint as the reigning champeens on the TWL 7 Man ladder.
Heya - Green Eagle here - been playing since Dec 2002 - ImaNoob is the only named I recognized - first tribe was LoD (lords of destiny) - 2nd was Sibko - 3rd is Cygnus -
Dr Spock here - Been playing since whenever T2 released, I got it on day 1. Defensive specialist though I find I have to go into capping a lot because no one else on my team can do it.
Played tribes 1 at least 2 years before tribes 2 came out. I played the Insomniax mod.
I preordered tribes 2 and installed and played the day I got it. Not sure what month it was, I believe it was March or April of 2001. I started competition later that year for CoDx tribe.
Then played for [HOR]. In classic competition I played with a good group of guys called TNP. I knew most of them from tribes 1 days. Unfortunately I had to leave tribes 2 for a bit do to real life problems, but when I came back it seemed everything was dead, except V2 competition in which most of the guys from TNP had started Team Cygnus. I joined them for the fun of competition. After a more recent real life problem, I have returned to play whatever and Whenever, and I am glad this little project was started. Maybe one day competition might come back. It is alot to hope for, but I do hope.
Thanks to all of you who are working so hard on this.
Hey all, I used to play under the name Fyberwire on the |HV| server predominantly.
I recognize a few names around here, Lexor, Mo_Steel, Rufus J Squirrel of course...and it's good to see a lot of the old schoolers back for more shazbot.
I used to play with a lot of the old names back on |HV|, people like Tex, Fireman, Mr. 13 (r.i.p.), Terranova, HeraNoir, Coldblood, and a few others. Hopefully as the word gets out more people will return and hopefully more people discover this truly great game.
I haven't had a chance to get my hands on what looks to be a great reprise of my all-time favorite game, but I'm hoping to do just that in the next few weeks. If the community needs it, I have a lot of older resources for T2 on my old computer that might not be available any longer. I know there are some great user-created maps that deserve a spot in any good rotation, as well as some great skins and UIs made by some of the greats.
Looking forward to more of the same great teamwork and community that made this game so great in the first place many years ago.
Started in Tribes 1 in '98, loved it and mastered the TAC mod and sniping(Not in base, I hate the LazRifle). I then started Tribes 2 when it came out, played MeltdownX and Renegade. When those two cleared out, I played Construction and Base.
I'm ready to kick ass and do loops in a shrike. Who wants to join me?
I suppose I'll let my voice be heard in this thread as well. I've been playing since '01, I've gathered some skills along the way, now that we've got tribesnext i love it more than ever! You may have seen me as : Dischord81/Atlas/Abstract/KillMachine/Fuze21... and some others that i can't recall. See you in game!!
Hey, I doubt if anyone here would remember me. I played back in 2002 and have had the best time of any game I've played on the internet with Tribes 2. This is totally nostalgic. Great to see Tribes making a comeback since Vengeance.
'Ello... I've been playing Tribes 2 ever since it was released just under 8 years ago, after being addicted to both Starsiege and Starsiege: Tribes.
Nothing beats this game in terms of fun-factor for me. No other game has ever kept me entertained for 8 years, and I'm glad to find that I'll be able to add to that count. Thanks much to the TribesNext devs.
I've recently begun to mod and script for Tribes 2, and find it quite enjoyable and rewarding... I develop a variant of the Construction mod entitled Krypton. This game is awesome on so many levels, from server-side moddability to community features such as the Browser and T-mail... no way we can let it die.
A lot of familiar names ITT. Kryand, Methicle, Wildcard, Rufus. I really can't play like i used to on my 56k. Then again, i guess i never learned to play T2 without it, if that's any indication of how long i've been around. Almost as nostalgic as legos.
used to play as UseR-X- on 56k in 2001-2002 (as well as off and on as a variety of smurfs in t1) or so for kore (#3 base++), then got on cable and switched to projectile permanently right as I joined 311, which held #3 and subsequently #2 on the base++ ladder. left, came back and played with icon (#1 in classic), then after icon disbanded, joined delirium tremens (#1 classic team). In 7 man, I played for infidelic, which held #1 for a time, but most notably for team little rascals, which is the undisputed #1 7 man team of all time. Also played for icon in the 10 man spawn ctf league, which held #1 undefeated until they retired. I was generally regarded as one of the very top ld in the game for many years.

Very glad to have my Shazbot back.
T1 & T2 dev team member.
Glad to see the community gain some momentum again after so many years.
A tip of the hat to those who helped ressurect T2.
Played mostly renegades after about a year of standard T2.
thank you Tribes Next
