Some tips on how to increase FPS in Tribes 2 and Reduce Lag?

Any tips on how to reduce lag and increase fps. I understand about lowering detail levels and stuff, but is there any other way, and can Tribes 2 run on dxlevel 81?

Have you selected the right Internet speed in the Tribes 2 options menu?

Edit: The right setting for the speed of your Internet access, I mean, or something.

Also, make sure to select OpenGL, not Direct 3D in the graphics option menu.
