Display change failed

Whenever I start Tribes 2 solo and LAN under compatibility for XP SP2 and having it run under administrative access, it doesn't actually launch and an error screen comes up and says the hardware failed to switch to the specified mode. It actually shows three times in a row. Is this due to a compatibility error with my Vista or video card?

Try changing your screen resolution in windows to 800x600 and see what happens.

You could also try running the game in a window by changing your launch shortcut to run Tribes2.exe -online -w
Or open up prefs/clientPrefs.cs and set $pref::Video::fullScreen = 0;
