I need account help

Hi, I cannot make an account at all. I do it in game and got the key. I picked the 1024 thing. I got to the part to make an account and typed in a name and password... it didn't work no matter what I put. Could someone please make me an account and give me the name and password?

If you had read the Known Issues, you would know that the 1024-bit key has been known to have some issues.
I suggest you retry with a 512 or 768 keysize.

Looks like Krash made some modifications to the first page of the account creation wizard. Unless you get the authentication server status as "online", the wizard should not let you proceed to key generation. Since your computer failed to acquire the IP address of the account server, it should not have been able to advance.

For whatever reason, you're able to get past that point, despite your game failing to communicate with the account server. The third step requires communicating with the account server (obviously) to set up your account.

So, one of two possibilities: There is a bug in the rc1e release regarding account server acquisition that slipped by Krash, or your have a firewall or antivirus program denying access to the HTTP server.

i figured that maybe it was the firewall too. right now, im WIIIIDE open. unhooked the router, disabled the software down to the service level. same thing.

is there another version of the patch out there? a previous version that i could try?

maaaan its GOTTA be something on my end, it has to be cuz i can ping the auth server! im gonna tear out every trace of the fw and run without the router, i BETCHA i blow something up tonight. thx for the help brohams.

found it! something in the fw, EVEN with it being disabled, EVEN down to the service level, was keeping it from talking to the auth server, so i wiped it all out. worked like a charm, got right on in and played two good matches. 30 kills and 2 caps and the night is young! i'll figure out what was the holdup and post it up in the help section tommorow.

That bug did slip by (just a missing trigger to disable the NEXT button), but as far as bugs go it is pretty fleeting. If the person reads the text - if that ever happens - they should see that it didn't retrieve the server address and as such wouldn't have much chance of registering... the rc1d build would simply say that it couldn't connect.
Still, the version on the site has been recompiled to include the fix to stop them at that point.

yeah well, seems i spoke too soon. i havent been able to log bak in since, cant connet to the irc server and my favorites list is useless. the addresses are correct but i cant even ping em. i didn't change anything either. i dunno. think i'll check back in a month or so when ya'll work the kinks out. seems my patched install doesnt like my scripts and it hangs up or ues at startup. but i got faith.

Actually, being unable to ping a server or connect to IRC is directly related to your firewall setup.
Tribes2.exe must be able to communicate over TCP in order to use chat, in addition to retrieving the server list.
Tribes2.exe must also be able to communicate over UDP in order to query, connect to, and play on servers.

i hear ya Krash. ive been workin on it for a couple hours now and it works, i can login and get the server list. what specific ports does the patch need? i watched it and it went throught the whole 4000 block range, then it went to the 5000s.

works. eset just dont like t2. didnt need it anyway, the hardware fw works fine. wish i could figure whats holding it up though.
