What antivirus do you have /what's the best in your oppinion ?

I have nod 32 with mara fix but since i have 512 mb ram and that takes 50 mb of my resources i'm thinking of changing it (had it for like 3 years ) .
I also used this beacause i'm downloading allot of pirated stuff...yeah...And usualy nod 32 doesn't detect keygens and cracks as viruses (allot are not viruses) but other antiviruses do .
Would you recommend any other anntivirus the same as nod32 but taking less resources ? /What antivirus do you have ?

  • I've found McAfee Security Suite coupled with Malwarebytes solves all the problems you listed.
Knock on wood, no virus or trojan for over 3 years now. Get the latest versions though... :)

No A/V used, but I am 64 bit and almost all malware is coded 32 bit. 32 can not attack 64, so not needed at this time.

I have 25+ yrs PC Tech.
I warn all users off the worst A/Vs to run, the issues from them are almost endless and I will not cover them here.
High end users never load the list below for any reason, again I won't cover the why too much to discuss in a game forum.
    PC Cillin
    Norton
    McAfee
    Trend micro

The one you listed is a decent A/V.
    nod32 is a non intrusive A/V.

kaspersky internet security 2010 is one of the better A/Vs available that a Tech would use on a 32 bit system.
I do load that on a few users systems after working on it if they have nothing and seem to be infected often.
Most users are spyware infected more than virus and or trojan infected, FYI.
Considering 32-bit code runs just fine on 64-bit systems, what on earth makes you think you're safe from a virus just because you're on x64?! I'm in I.T. as well and I've never heard that theory.
    Theory? FACT!
Go back to school, Your I.T. training failed.
WOW64 is written so that 32bit based cannot infect the 64 bit kernel of the operating system. PERIOD!
I will not argue with the facts, nor with anyone lacking the knowledge.
That is not a theory and if your I.T. training told you differently they need to learn 64 versus 32 prior to teaching fail.
A simple tool at www.GRC.COM will prove that without you the user having to strain your brain in technical issues.
Run this simple app by Steve Gibson, he has forgotten more than your I.T. training has taught you to date.

The above is true, however you I.T fellows forget that the majority of PC users do NOT run 64 bit systems. They run 32 bit systems.

I covered that already in this post. ::) Look up.

I am through discussing technical issues with flat liners.

32 bit CAN NOT SEE 64 bit PERIOD!!!!!
Can a 64 bit see and run 32 bit? YES DAMNIT!
Can that 32 bit garbage virus infect my 64 bit kernel or 64 bit applications? NO! NO! NO! NO!
What part of NO is confusing you, the N or the O?
    Flat Liner's Next Question
Can it infect the garbage 32 bit apps on my 64 bit system?
    YES! Flat Liner YES!

    Yet another flat-liner enters.
lol funny BassTroll is funny lol

If anything, the wow64 emulation platform is a security hole, not a layer of protection.

That said, I've been using MSE for all my side work.
    You are a moron.
Open your stupid 32 bit virus with a 64 bit OS and watch the 32 bit infect the 32 bit files. Then when you are done committing idiot suicide to your 32 bit apps, YOU WILL STILL SEE NO INFECTION IN 64!
Close the moron gate, the flat-liners are still pouring in.
    64 = Hidden from 32 bit
Can not attack what you can not see!
    End of discussion!
    Game over!

  • avira and avg

and the guy that said mcafee, dont listen to him =p It doesnt seem as bad as norton, but still...
  • AVG equals a life full of false positives

stay the fuck away, and pay your :10bux: for something non-shitty instead
  • I was going to comment on Basshole's reply, but then I realized I was trolled epically. Good work dude.

Just in case you weren't trollin, I'd like to let you know I was infected with Win32/Brontok.E in less than 20 minutes of installing win7 x64 ultimate. Granted, it was a landmine left from not doing a cleans-weep of my last installation, but my point is that win7 ultimate has no problem running 32bit code
  • I run windows 7 64-bit as well, and I'm still capable of getting 32-bit viruses (and running 32-bit applications, for that matter).
  • Basshole, you are either the best troll ive seen in my whole life, or a complete idiot. For that, I either congratulate you, or want to punch you in the face. This in fact is the sign of a great troll. Your use of logical fallacies and non-sequitors is unparalleled to mine, phantom139, or even the whole community of 4chan. I pray that one day, I can learn your secrets on nonsense to create a whole new world order (or disorder to be more accurate). Thank you for your expertise in showing us your ways. Good day sir.
