Just throwing it out there. I have an odin 2 mini with a snapdragon gen3 or something and itll run T2 with proton11 in gamenative (android) so its possible on arm. I think @flakpyro got it running on an intel macbook running fedora. So its possible with the right setup. M1 and M2 macs can run Asahi linux which might be…

Yes, it's a lakrabbit map that just so happens to have the buildings next to the border https://github.com/ChocoTaco1/TacoMaps/blob/master/Lak/mini-sundried.vl2

Visual bug I noticed https://youtu.be/Ltp16Pwl5vU

I have two clients. They connect, then 5-10 minutes later will randomly disconnect. Ive told them to try various things to troubleshoot but they just want to blame the server. Anything I can do. Maybe they got a bad asset or weird routing? Maybe recommend making a new account and trying with that? The new memory management…

Ive noticed at 1000 packet size some clients have a hard time connecting (Frozen datablock). So lowering it to 800 seems to help. Any methodology behind this? Maybe if loading screen can be capped at 32 (if set) no matter the packet size if it's larger than 450?

Hey Krash, what would your thoughts be on making vehicle dashboards transparent in 1st person view?
-
Assuming most skins are 512x512 you think it might be a good idea to add @2x to player skins so theyre easier to ship? We had a big Halloween pack and had to designate the two with separate downloads, since using 1024 now is a no brainer. Thanks for the insight on the texture pipeline. The jpg route sounds interesting. I…

Ah, thanks Krash. shll_fieldfill.png being 2x2 pixel prob doesn't need a @2x of that. Not having one fixes it tho. I thought for sure it was still doing it without the upscaled version. I posted what I was using. Do you think 1024x1024 low compression PNGs should be the target to prevent any hang ups in the thread?

Seems like this gui bg is getting messed up passed 150% UI scale or @2x

Would the strategy to prevent CRC stuttering to keep textures under 3mb?
-
Krash, we're playing around with AI upscaling for textures and 2x-4x file sizes get kind of big. Is there a maximum size a vl2 can be? Seems after 2gb it stops loading textures.

Something I think about sometimes not related to the patch but you have extra fonts anyway is if tribes2 had some concept of emojis 👍️

What are the chances we get this running on ARM? Tried on Odin 2 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen2 CPU), crashes tho, well, freezes but graphics crash, I can still hear the character moving around. I might try in proton-arm

Does this effect servers?
-
If there's no further complications other than pissing off comp players. I think we should go for it. I was thinking there were some other reasons.

Are you getting now what the server would deem 120fov by old standards for iff scope? If the server allows higher fov (player.cs 132) does the client see and allow higher iff scope? Ya, this is tough Wonder if a server-side pref maximum allowed iff scope would work? I guess that could be spoofed too

I do have a thing that brings up a special debrief with server info etc that is on a hard set timer when you first load in. Possibly client loaded in before that screen pops. I'll try shortening it a few seconds now that things are much faster. Also some other things Ive noticed: Plasma and Shocklance are sometimes…

Thanks Krash!

Krash pointed me in the right direction to provide that the night it started acting up. I suggest doing whatever Krash recommends. What I distribute now has $IRCClient::state = IDIRC_CONNECTING_WAITING; and the Winsock DNS mempatch as Krash suggested and provided for us. Thanks Krash

Hello TribesNext, We've been trying to get a Renegades server going and got it all set up with Tricon but keep getting a UE 00559ce2 about 10 sec after the server has completed loading. Did some digging and its a reference to something to do with networking... here…

Ravins not going anywhere tho, hopefully. He still has Super Admin on Taco. Unless he wants to go somewhere. Some info about the Taco server: Its in Dallas. Its hosted on a Vultr VPS (not Branzone) 64 slots. Lots of Lak maps. Lots of custom maps. CTF, Lak, Spawn CTF, duel mod occasionally Match summaries are posted in a…
