Random Comp Sci major here: It depends, theoretically you can do quite a lot in a small amount of time, but organizational and motivational problems become a huge issue. --- I'm starting to think it's not coincidental that some of the best indy projects for games come out of a very small (or singular - see Dwarf Fortress)…

I can't see how it would effect classic much anyways, since they mainly serve to spotlight sensor jamming people to turrets. But, conventional T2 typically only has turrets with real meat on the outside. And those cameras can be removed from a distance pretty easy (the effective range of this effect isn't massive). Yea,…

I'm not one usually to argue classic, but in this case it's useful, if only for one thing: cameras detect sensor jammed people. That became pretty important and a wonderful strategic element for base design. I tried to post what was at least a recent .vl2 for the game I had on me but it wasn't letting me. I'm sure other…

It can be useful: the trick is to multitask yourself. Find someone who's just using a tank as a turret to defend flag. Man the CC from inside the driver's seat :P Now you have someone coordinating tactics, and a tank someone can't hop into and run off with. Not to mention if a shrike or something attacks the tank you'll…

I definitely start rusty then get more in the flow, but what I'm doing to "warmup" remains the same as when I'm actually playing. All I have to do is get my instincts calibrated to the current conditions and I'm ready to go.

http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16 We got people on this :P

Unfortunately there's a ton of legal issues to be considered. The original dev team made agreements with VU about being able to do this. I doubt they're going to be willing to let someone try again after the first flop.

Kids: T2 has other modes than CTF. It is bad for CTF, for many of the reasons stated here: Satchel is for siege. Satchel is very good sometimes in siege for the reasons i've mentioned before. Games have been won from good satchel use. It has a purpose, it just happens for ctf that it's often easily defeated or overkill.…

Yea, the chaingun is for really close unless the person is almost dead. Anyone worth their salt will be able to dodge chaingun fire pretty well at that distance. Note entirely true on the staying still part. If the person is moving/flying in a relatively straight pattern (preferably going towards or away from you), scoring…

Projectile, you forgot to mention close range sniping is also amazingly fun ^_^ The first time I jousted and coup de graced someone in the head with my rifle was the second best moment ever in T2 (first was an awesome lance, I managed to get behind someone and kill them before even I had registered what exactly I had done)…

I'm not on IRC much although I could show up. I'm more easily found through talking on goon haven (i actually read the chats during games). Maybe i'll get on IRC sometimes. I'm DarkBasilisk in most T2 related things. Btw guys i haven't seen this demo in a while: I *think* the second match is the better one, I'll find out…

Practice. I can give advice at some point for tactics, but the actual hitting stuff part as Eolk said is experience and luck. Since it is an instant-hit weapon, ping matters a lot, but only in the sense that your ping is consistent on a day to day basis, or you can adjust fast. Ping/Personal reflex is how much you lead the…

2) and 4) are typically the best options, with 4) often being more used. You get better at it. It's rare for me *not* to win a battle vs an HO as a light at this point. Btw, shocklance is more for suprise attacks or if you're low on ammo. If you use your disk on a unshielded heavy and keep medium range, you have a VERY…

Btw, are you Purple instead of Purpleduck on T2? I may have seen you a time or two.

*Hits ceiling* My project is due friday at midnight so i'm free one way or the other for this ;)

:( I have to dig myself out of a shitton of work tonight -_-

Even if he is, I'm still calling crap on that, unless you can explain how classic changed play so much from base that cappers move at mach ten and never get intercepted by anyone after the D's first shot at them. I played in competition on base for a while, and even versus good cappers taking carefully planned ski routes,…
-
*Waves* :) But in all seriousness, it can be a very good disruptive tactic, especially if you keep track who the cappers are and potshot them a lot. Not to mention that to really do it right, you have to be a good shot at moving targets, so you can finish the people off when they try and run waiting for their veh to spawn.…

Sniping cloakers is difficult and takes a good deal of luck, but not impossible, especially for an accomplished marksman. Not saying either way on whether those two cheat or not, but I'd like to throw it out there that it's possible to do without cheating. Also, I think I've gotten at least in the higher fourties for…

Hehe now that you mention it I've done that several times. It can take people a few times before they start to expect it and handle things properly.

I'm on really at entirely random time frames, but I'm usually on Goon haven and if you see me there, say something about it I'll give you some pointers on being a sniper.

Satchel is not so much good on ctf, but it can be EXTREMELY useful for siege. Defensively, a lot of players leave satchels right behind force fields, so when the gen goes down and the offense rushes in, they det-kill the first wave of unsuspecting intruders. For the offense, I like to use satchels in two ways: 1) Keeping…

I might be able to stop by for a bit too.

Laser rifle and shocklance. The first can solve nearly every problem given good enough aim and time, and the second, well it's a mixed bag of utilities: surprise back lances, messing with vehicles, and jousting.
-
Yea, Ed that sounds good. Hmm, other thing, anyone interested in maybe a small pickup of sorts? Currently the server never gets more than 3 or 4 people and that doesn't even happen often. It might be nice for us to all meet up and get a good game going :)
-
Ed/Mal, it does need to be toned down, trust me :) If I get any more games i'll post a replay. Right now I have to be worried that i'm going to scare people off if I use my preferred T2 weapon in Smash -_- EDIT: actually i'll be hanging out in the server for a little while tonight if anyone wants to come :)

are these still happening? I didn't see anyone last wenesday :(

It's been pretty fun, although some thoughts so far on the currently hosted version: 1) Laser rifle is a little too good, it's ok in regular play since most people aren't good shots. But when you get a capable sniper that can hit someone several times in succession, it becomes a slaughter :P (Hit once at full hp to knock…
