If your server shortcut looks something like this, it should be fine: C:\Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\tribes2.exe -dedicated -mod Devastation There aren't seperate files for client and server. One patch fits all. To start up the client and join the server, use a shortcut to online mode or run SierraUp.exe.
-
Do you get any messages in the server console about the heartbeats? They should send about ever three minutes, and the list server should send back a response. What are you using as the target in your shortcut?
-
There is no real Linux support for the patch at the moment, unfortunately. We are working towards a solution to have it function properly under software such as WINE, but native support isn't high on the priority list at the moment. :(

You need to register using the "Create New Account" button ingame, if that's what you mean. It looks to me like Moran24 is registered in the game, not Moran26. Are you sure you're not just logging in with the wrong username?
-
Actually this error is sent when another account has been registered on the server from the same IP address within 7 days. If you attempted to create an account before, this probably means it already exists.
-
Without your cooperation and answers to all the ideas and questions I put forward in effort to help you come to a solution, I can't give you a definitive answer. We're only trying to help, and to explain why something happens is generally much more effective in determing the root of the problem. Keep in mind that we've…

Not at the moment, no.

There are a few other things you can try to fix a startup UE, including but not limited to: - Reinstalling the game itself from the installer available in the downloads section. Make sure to either install in a new directory or totally clear out the old one. - Running in compatibility mode and disabling any additional…
-
There might be a slight delay on startup to allow the ruby interpreter and a few scripts to load. As long as you don't get any errors, you should be fine.
-
Are you running the latest drivers? Does it open if you add the following line to GameData/base/prefs/clientPrefs.cs (create it if it doesn't exist): $pref::skipintro = 1; You could also try: $pref::Video::displayDevice = "D3D"; or: $pref::Video::displayDevice = "OpenGL";
-
This has been resolved in the latest version, but is a server-side fix. The hosts of the servers will need to update.
-
There is nothing formatted yet, but you can view a raw list by going to master.tribesnext.com/list

This was an issue we encountered in the last-minute testing phase, but yes, you can connect to the server using the LAN address. Sorry if it causes any inconvenience. We'll surely resolve the issue in later versions of the patch, but for now you might want to just add the server's lan address to your favourites.
-
If you have run the patcher, it did not go through. It creates a replacement for SierraUp.exe that does not contain anything mentioned in your post. You're probably going to want to try reinstalling.
-
To play online you'll need the multiplayer patch. It can be found in out downloads section.
-
This is something I suspected would come up soon enough and is likely due to the way the IP verification determines its own address. I'll try to make sure we address this in the next update, but for now a temporary fix that should work for servers using a different BindAddress is to use the following line to set the IP…

A few of the people who have had similar problems have reported they were able to get the game functional again by using the patch on a fresh install. If you have the time, this might be a solution to try. Also, the game must be up-to-date prior to running the multiplayer patch. If you installed from the original 2001 CD…

You'll get that error if the rubyintersect process was left running (happens when the game crashes unexpectedly - we're looking into that). Open up your task manager and close all instances of the process and it should patch properly.
-
If the box is blacked out, the game didn't find any keys stored on your computer. Are you sure your account was registered? If so, did you change anything afterwards, and are you running the correct executable? If you go through the account creation process again and put in the same name you used originally, it should tell…
-
When are you getting the error? It can be caused by a number of things, and the game can be a bit picky under certain circumstances. If it's occurring right when you open the game, you may want to update any out-of-date drivers, and add $pref::skipintro = 1; to prefs/clientPrefs.cs.
-
Hmm, yeah, I'll do that. Think I'll just go with rc1b or something though since it's not that big of an update. :p
-
To clarify: If the BAK file existed and is not blank, you do not need to reinstall the game. Simply change that file's name to console_start.cs and run the patch on it. Clear your cache (or use another browser) and download a new version of the installer. If it creates a blank file, you're running an old version of the…
-
Is this on a clean install?
-
If the bak file contains the content, delete the CS file and rename the BAK to .cs. After this is done you'll need to apply the patch from the latest version of the installer.
-
If you got an error saying something along the lines of it being read-only, you may have the rubyintersect.dll process still running (eg. if the game crashed). Press ctrl-shift-esc, go to the process tab, and kill it if you see it.
-
The bak file or the cs? If neither has any content, you will need to reinstall the game or get console_start.cs from another install. If you don't want to redownload the whole game, join IRC and somebody there can surely send you a copy of the file.
-
Try the fix in this thread if you tried to install an earlier version of the patch yesterday: http://www.tribesnext.com/forum/index.php?topic=62.0
-
It is up, though passworded.
-
The "Apply Patch" button requires that Tribes2.exe exists in the directory you're trying to patch. If you can't press the button, the patcher couldn't possibly change it because it doesn't exist.
-
I can better help you if you can outline to me specifically what operations you ran through, and tell me any error messages you see. A screenshot of the dedicated console after it's finished loading will be helpful too.
