• Satchels are a reasonable and effective way of using your time to waste theirs when you've got nothing better to do and are getting in the way of everyone else on your team. A satchel is a lot like a single disc, you're not overly likely to kill too many people with it but at the very least you'll get the more easily…
• Random ass-odd config that's good for people with freakish jack-skellington spider hands like me: Q: strafeleft W: Forwards E: Straferight A: Mine OR grenade OR Special. Tribes has amazing scripts, this can change for each server S: Backwards D: Jump/jet R: Use pack F: Throw grenade Z: Medkit V: Voicecomms, it's tradition.…
• Yknow in most forums it's considered the point of having moderators to ban the people that can't stop insulting and demeaning everyone else rather than just enabling their behavior and letting them continue to drive off new people with their unending trolling and flaming.
• Keeping the enemy terrified of going outdoors is both fun AND useful. And people competent enough to do that are about as easy to find as honest congressmen.
• I still dream of someday enlightening the masses of Deagle/AK CS Nubs and seeing twin ladders rise up for base and classic with so many players and teams they can even do 32v32 clan battles. Then I wake up and remember that the single most populous FPS has a competitive community that is strongly pushing for 3v3 ladders…
• No idea what the particular reason for tribes is but I've noticed that virtually every competitive ruleset out there tends towards some absurdly low playercount. HL engine games get as low as 3v3 and 5v5 in mods that are designed for at least 12 players per team. The most common argument I've heard that is actually a real…
• Tailgunners: Put down the goddamn shocklance unless you KNOW how to use it because that one time you get excited and keep it out you're going to hop out onto the hill, forget that you aren't holding your repair pack anymore, and do something very funny and yet oh so very wrong to your friends.
• Tits, barrel roll, chargin mah lazer, harpoons etc
• Wow it feels so wrong to think of a half-gigabyte file as "small" now... must be from downloading 4gb mods for Source.
• I saw one used to good effect earlier as a way of dealing with a heavy on flag defence, send two flagrunners one with a satch and have the first one go bang right before the second one comes in.
• Vaguely useful on maps with double-generators and massive underground tunnels connecting the bases. If nobody is watching the tunnels you could sneak one in, blow both gens at once (mines/nades on one, ELF/gun the other, then run and detonate) and GTFO but honestly why not put that much effort into something more useful?…
• Tribes IS neck and neck with battlefield. that's the problem. Tribes: Battlefield 1942 Tribes2: Battlefield 2 TribesV: Battlefield 2142+Battlefield 1943
• Carry a chaingun. The instant your flag leaves the ground you rev that baby up and start firing at the carrier from wherever you are while going about your business. Never underestimate the killing power of even a few people taking potshots with a chaingun on their way out the door.
• if it's the one with the default skins it should actually be an installer that does it all for you.
• Which, like crysis, probably runs better and with all the same graphical effects in dx9 mode.
• Also call people noobs in real life too.
• Suggesting a card that can't even pull more than 25fps in cod4 of all games? Why don't you do YOUR research. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162028 9800gt for $90 after a rebate. It's false economics to pay $75 for a videocard that can't play ANYTHING right now when you can pay a little more and be…
• Tell them to go to go fuck themselves and stare at a photograph for 3 hours if they care more about shiny than gameplay.
• There haven't been videocards under $75 since 1999 or so. "decent" is anywhere from $150 to $220 now, and that can get you a videocard that will probably last 2 years if you don't mind going without anti-aliasing. [edit] http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/02/16/s3-crams-displayport-hdmi-and-dvi-onto-70-chrome-540-gtx/ ^^^ that…
• Chaingun, grenade launcher, plasma rifle, mortar, and everyone always underestimates the effectiveness of an elf.
• I was more referring to projectile's assertion that outright cheating falls under "people finding ways to help improve their game" rather than... outright cheating.
• hilarious once you realise hyperthreading was actually an accident brought on by an inefficient pipeline. P2 slot processor and a voodoo 3 PCI videocard was my first tribes machine, all on ~30kbps dialup connections. Game actually ran quite smoothly as long as I remembered to turn some settings down when I joined a…
• Strange, they work fine for me. What personally pisses me off is that there's several servers that don't just list bots but seem to somehow circumvent the bot filter by changing how many bots they display while at the same time spoofing their playercount so it LOOKS like it's just a few bots and a lot of players.
• if your computer is new enough to have SATA plugs it's new enough to run tribesnext.
• Bf2's just too hilariously broken to really work out competitively.
• Happy Mod ring a bell?
•
link=topic=631.msg6568#msg6568 date=1234906719] As an actual troll this thread offends me. Not all of use live under bridges and eat billy goats you know.
statistically 50% of those goats are jane goats.
• Nobody ever believes it's really a given famous person until they've been utterly raped sideways by said person in their signature style. Then what's left just feels amazed.
• 4870x2 is a single-card Crossfire solution, so it's like me trying to run t2 while using SLI. Kill vsync, disable triple buffering, and the big one is probably going to be setting yourself to single-GPU mode if you have that option. Some things flicker more than others, some things flicker less than others, and certain…
• Well if you go by sirlin then even though it's legal by technicality it's still illegal in every other sense since it's both altering the game externally and inarguably gamebreaking, it's effectively identical to making cloak packs turn people rainbows instead of nearly invisible or playing boss characters in some fighters.
